This is Morita’s theatrical film debut. The film depicts a strange love triangle between a second-rate rakugo storyteller in training, Shintoto, a prostitute he meets as a guest, and a high school girl who belongs to a rakugo club. The lead role is played by Katsunobu Ito, who was discovered by director Morita in this film and made his debut as an actor. Kumiko Akiyoshi's physical performance as a prostitute was also a hit. The film won first place for Top Ten Best Japanese Films at the 3rd Yokohama Film Festival, as well as for Best Picture and Best New Director.
